Why remove sound before posting
A phone records everything around it: traffic, chatter, a song playing in a shop. Muting gives you a clean clip, so the only audio in your post is what you choose to add in Instagram.
Post the picture without the sound it was recorded with.

A video file is a container: one track holds the picture, other tracks hold sound, subtitles or timecode. To mute a video, MuteVideo removes the audio tracks and copies the picture track exactly as it was — nothing is decoded or compressed again.
For MP4 and MOV, only the file’s index is rewritten in your browser. The picture data is referenced in place, so even large files finish in seconds without filling your device’s memory.
For WebM, MKV and AVI, an FFmpeg engine compiled to WebAssembly runs in your browser tab and performs the same stream copy.
Your video is read from your device and saved back to it. It isn’t sent to a server.

Instagram lets you add licensed music while you edit a post or reel. Starting from a silent video means the track you pick plays on its own, without the original recording underneath.
Removing the original sound does not guarantee that a post won’t be flagged or restricted, and it doesn’t change anything visible in the frames. Use music and footage you have the right to use.
MuteVideo copies the video stream without re-encoding, so the file you upload is as sharp as the one you recorded. Any processing that happens after upload is up to Instagram.

No tool can promise that. Muting removes the original audio, but the platform may still review the visuals or any music you add later.
Yes. Upload the silent video and choose music inside Instagram while editing your post.
No. It only removes audio. Resolution, aspect ratio and length stay the same.
Slightly, because the audio track is gone. The picture itself is not compressed.
