Good to know
- Does removing audio reduce video qualityNo, not if the tool copies the video stream instead of re-encoding it: the picture stays identical and the file only gets slightly smaller.
- MP4 vs MOV vs WebMMP4 is the safest choice for sharing because almost every phone, browser and app plays it; MOV is Apple’s QuickTime format, common for iPhone and professional footage; WebM is an open web format used by browsers and screen recorders.
- How to make a video quieterOpen the video in an editor, select the clip and drag its volume slider below 100%: in Clipchamp it is on the Audio tab of the property panel, and in iMovie on iPhone it is under the Audio button.
- How to add text to a videoIn Clipchamp, open the Text tab, drag a text style onto the timeline above your video, type your words in the property panel and export.
- How to remove audio from a large video fileUse a tool that copies the video stream instead of re-encoding it: FFmpeg’s ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c copy -an output.mp4 handles files of any size in seconds to minutes.
